Getting to Anglian College
(See also the Contact Us page of this website
)
This section explains how to get to Woolwich once you have arrived in the UK.
What to do upon arrival at Anglian College London
3.1 From London Heathrow Airport
3.1.1 By coach
This costs approximately GBP 10.00 and takes approximately 2 hours, depending on the traffic at the time. The coach is the least advised option for travelling from the Airport for our students due to its complicated schedules and the number of connections required to get to a destination in London.
3.1.2 By rail
Heathrow Airport is a big place where you have to walk a long way, but luggage trolleys are free and plentiful. Once you have passed through immigration and customs formalities, look for signs to the Underground (not Trains). If you arrive after 0930 buy a Travelcard, for about GBP £6, which will get you all the way to Woolwich from the airport. The (blue) Piccadilly Line will carry you into the centre of London in about one hour. Then you need to change to another Underground line and then onto a National Rail (above ground) line to head for Woolwich Arsenal station. There are lots of different ways of making that connection, but we suggest you change at Green Park (to the Jubilee Line) and then London Bridge, where you need to wait on the correct platform (generally 1 or 4, but check the information screens) for trains heading east on the Woolwich line. Get out at Woolwich Arsenal station, then it is just a couple of minutes walk diagonally across a small park to the College.
3.2 From other London airports
A remarkable number of other airports, including Stansted, Luton, City, Southampton, and Gatwick, serve London. If your flight brings you into one of these, budget a little more than at Heathrow to buy a bus or train ticket to bring you into the centre of London. Then just as from Heathrow, head for London Bridge station to pick up a train to Woolwich Arsenal.
3.3 What to do upon arrival at Anglian College London
Remember to bring with you all the information about your registration as well as your accommodation when you arrive, especially your pink 'Offer and Acceptance of Accommodation' slip. If accommodation has been booked for you by the College, you will be able to collect the keys to your room from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm on weekdays. If you arrive outside these hours, you will not be able to collect your keys unless prior arrangements have been made.
