How to Apply for an Oyster Card

You will need the following for making an application:

• A passport-sized photograph
• Postal order, cheque or credit/debit card details to pay GBP 5
• Your Student ID no.
• Course dates

If you wish to apply online, you will need all of the above, but need a digital photograph, i.e. a scanned version of your passport sized photograph.

We prefer you submit online application since it is the easiest and fastest means of getting your Oyster card. Once you have submitted your online application, TfL will send us your application for validation through their system.

When we have validated your application (no problem if your fees are cleared and you are registered for the duration that you have applied for) TfL will write to you and send your Oyster card.

Application process made simple:

• You apply online or via post (ask for an application form at Admissions)
• We receive request from TfL to validate your application
• We validate your application if all fees are cleared and registration is up to date
• TfL will send you the Oyster card

(Remember the privacy implications of a student Oyster card, which inherently tracks all your movements by public transport.)
